Mary Jane Andol
My condolences for anyone who knew and loved Milly Andol. She was my mother, my first and best teacher, my dear friend, and my companion. She loved and forgave with her whole heart no matter the wrongdoing others or I myself had committed and no matter whether or not we deserved her love. She was generous, kind, sympathetic and just plain spunky. She was not perfect and never expected anyone else to be.
Funny story, and she would kill me for telling this one. When she was quite young, there was a teacher at her school who apparently never made a mistake. At least, he never made a mistake that she could see. He never lost his temper or became upset. This fascinated her, and she compared his behavior to that of Jesus Christ wondering what it would take before he lost that facade.
There was a bush in the school yard that had thorns, big long thorns. Mom fashioned a circle with branches from that bush, sneaked up behind him and "crowned" him.
She said the teacher didn't say a word nor make any sound. He took his handkerchief and wiped the blood away. He didn't return the next school year.
Mom was not a cruel person, just curious. Seriously. She never told that story showing any true remorse for what she'd done. Sometimes we do things that make no sense. Mom understood.
