Obituary for Madge Shaw (Cromeans)

Madge Cromeans Shaw (our MeeMaw) moved into eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 7, 2017 surrounded by her children. The daughter of Dr. Claude and Eva Cromeans was born October 17, 1921 in Dennis, Ms. She grew up in Belmont, attended high school there, and graduated from Blue Mountain College in 1942. After working in Memphis for several years, she moved to the Mississippi Delta to teach school. There she met and married her husband, James Arnette Shaw, Jr. She raised her family and taught elementary school in Webb for 29 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers (Battle, Bill and Joe) and one sister, Janlou Willson.

She is survived by her son, James Arnette Shaw, III (Susan) of Jackson and Jane Tackett (Doug) of Starkville. There are 6 grandchildren who will truly miss their MeeMaw. They are Sherry Shaw Gleason (Mike) of Jackson, Jay Shaw (Kate) of Jackson, Shawn Tackett Marchant (Brett) of Cleveland, Jenny Tackett Voyles (Mark) of Hernando, Molly Shaw Carlsen (Ron) of Birmingham, Mary Tackett Coats (Jason) of Starkville, and devoted niece, Betty Bradshaw of Starkville. She has been mightily blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.

Words alone cannot express our gratitude to Lena Overstreet, Ophelia Green and Ashley Perkins for the gentle loving care given to MeeMaw. While we are sad that she is no longer with us, we are even happier that she is now with the lover of her soul, Jesus Christ.
Services are scheduled for Thursday November 9, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Starkville, with the Visitation starting 10:00a.m -11:00a.m with the funeral service at 11:00a.m.
