Connie Jackson

STARKVILLE - Emma Cornelia “Connie” Jackson died June 14, 2017, one day past her 87th birthday. Ms. Jackson, C.C., to her family, was born June 13, 1930, to David Gladys Jackson and Florence Vickers Jackson in the Morgantown Community. She graduated Sturgis High School and then went on to Bowling Green Business University where she obtained a degree from the Bookkeeping and Secretarial College. After starting as a stenographer in the Dairy Science Department, Ms. Jackson spent the next forty-five years working for the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service, serving as Administrative Assistant to the Director under three different directors before her retirement. While at MSU, she received a service Award from Epsilon Sigma Phi, a Meritorious Support Award, and a Distinguished Staff Award. Ms. Jackson also was a member of Morgantown Baptist Chapel where she taught Youth Sunday School for numerous years.

She is survived by her sister, Katie Jackson Kimbrough (Lamar), a niece, Carrie Kimbrough, a nephew, David Kimbrough (Tammy), and two great-nieces, Ellie and Abigail Kimbrough.

Welch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements with visitation to be from 5 -7 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, and the funeral to be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Morgantown Baptist Chapel.
