Jerry L. Johnson, age 64, passed away on Thursday morning, June 1, 2017 in Choctaw County Mississippi. He was born September 25, 1952, in Maben, Mississippi. Jerry was the son of the late Alvin L. Johnson and Ina (Weeks) Johnson and the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Maben High School in 1970. Jerry worked for over 50 years as an independent logger. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maben, MS. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family dearly. He was a good man and a “papa” to everyone he met.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy Johnson; along with three children; Chris Johnson of Maben, Julie Pace of Petal, and Summer Johnson of New Orleans; a brother, Terry Johnson of Eupora and three sisters Kaye Alexander of Vardaman, Ann Trice of Mathiston and Mary Whatley of Eupora; 5 grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Hannah Trice, Matthew Pace, Slade Johnson, and Ocean Johnson; 1 great grandchild Kayden Smith; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

The funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Maben on Tuesday June 6, 2017. The visitation will be form 12 – 3 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church, Maben, MS.
