Obituary for W. Edwin Curtis


Rev. W. Edwin “Ed” Curtis, 86, of Starkville, went home with Jesus on Saturday, February 18, 2017, following a short illness.

Ed and his wife, Faye, made their home in Starkville for 59 years. He was best known as a Methodist minister and served as the Wesley Foundation Director and campus minister at MSU from 1957 to 1974. After leaving Wesley, Ed served as a clinical supervisor and therapist/counselor at Community Counseling Services until his retirement. He served as a Chaplain in the Mississippi Army National Guard for 33 years, retiring as a Colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Faye, daughter and son-in-law Janet and Larry Pearson, sister Betty (Thomas) Shows of Columbia, MS, brother Vernon Curtis of Laurel, MD, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by son Kent.

Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 5-7 p.m., at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. A celebration of Ed’s life will take place Saturday, February 25, at 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Starkville.
