James H. (Tip) Oswalt, 80, passed away on January 3, 2014 at his residence in Columbus, MS. He was a retired machinist for Oktibbeha County and member of Canaan Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rassie Oswalt and Ola West Oswalt.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Goodwin Oswalt of Columbus, MS; step-sons, Joey Daniel and wife Marcia of Bruce, MS and Johnny Daniel and wife Melissa of Mathiston, MS; sisters, Maedell Templeton of Sturgis, MS, Jennie Steep of Kosciusko, MS, Bonnie Libby of Porter, TX, and Barbara Stephens of Starkville, MS; and grandsons, Connor and Ben Daniel.

Visitation for Mr. Oswalt is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 6, 2014 in the Welch Funeral Home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Ben Yarber will conduct the service. Burial will be in Wake Forest Cemetery.
